This mid 1964 Martin 00-18 tricked us at first. When it arrived at the store, we originally thought it was a much younger guitar thanks to how well it was taken care of. When we ran the serial number of 203235 we realized it was actually from the mid 1960s! The guitar is quite beautiful in it’s own subtle way, and the soft v shape neck plays very nicely with the equipped 11-52 custom light gauge strings. The guitar sounds warm and clear with lots of high mid definition. The low end will not be mistaken as a dreadnought as the smaller grand concert is known for its folk voice and while it may not have the power, it certainly has the nuance.
There is a great article from Vintage Guitar magazine that describes the 1964 Martin 00-18 and its place in the folk revolution of the 1960s. Have a read of it on their website right here.
Included is an unbranded hard shell case from a similar era as the martin. Action is low but not buzzy and the guitar responds nicely to a light finger picked touch. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or requests for additional photos.
