Ear Craft Music just recently received two models of the PRS S2 Hollow Body guitars; The Custom 22 in McCarty Tobacco Sunburst and the PRS S2 Mira Semi Hollow Black. These guitars are dripping with cool. Out of the gig bag, they are setup perfectly and come into tune easily thanks to the PRS locking tuners. They sound great acoustically before you even plug them in. The “pattern regular” neck profile on the Mira is in keeping with the other PRS S2 models, which feels hand filling and comfortable but not excessively large. It is certainly not a thin neck profile. The electronics are exceptional, offering great tone in the 3-way selector and a push/pull knob for single coil sounds. This coil tap does not radically shift the amount of volume like others we have heard, which makes integrating them into your sound on the fly easy and inspiring.
The Stevensville, Maryland built S2 models offer the fit, finish, feel, and craftsmanship of a American made Paul Reed Smith guitar at a more affordable price than the traditional Core model guitars. In 2013, PRS introduced the S2 Series and the results of this straightforward approach to building American guitars is apparent. They look great, play great, and bridge the gap between the Korean SE models and the higher end Core line that made PRS legendary. New as of July 2014 are the PRS S2 Hollow Body guitars, which offer the same quality appointments of their solid body brethren but are lighter, resonant, and appeal to many types of electric guitar players.
