Vintage Weissenborn Lap Steel Acoustic Guitar
Less than 5,000 of these iconic instruments were produced by Hermann Weissenborn in total. They were made in Los Angeles during the 1920s and 1930s. This is one of the few surviving instruments and is still in remarkable condition. This Weissenborn does show signs of its age and we have made every effort to capture the condition of the instrument in our photos. Of note is a small crack on the instruments side coming from the neck joint. This guitar has a hollow neck and no truss rod, which is part of what makes these instruments unique.
This Weissenborn does not have a serial number. This is a “Style #3 Hawaiian,” which features all Koa construction with rope binding on the fingerboard, top, and rosette. It has a shellac finish. Pricing guides place this model between $4,000 and $4,800 in excellent condition. The original case is not included but we will ship this instrument in a protective hard case. Thanks for looking!
